This is a special Working Group (WG) for coordinating the establishment of a new learned society and will be the successor of the CRANE NetworkPlus, and will take the form of a post-CRANE platform for strengthening the cyber security research ecosystem in the UK and worldwide.
Key aims
- Engage with the cyber security research community and other relevant stakeholders to collect opinions and feedback on how the learned society should be formed and operate.
- Propose governance, finance, membership, operational models of the learned society and to draft relevant formal documents including the Articles of Association and important bylaws.
- Establish the learned society formally as a legal entity and to facilitate close collaboration between CRANE and the established learned society until the end of the funding period.

Additional Info
The LSFWG is now calling for applications for new members who will contribute to activities of the WG, including joining one or more Sub-Committees to develop documents and organise stakeholder engagement activities for the establishment of the planned learned society. The call has no application closing date, but it may be closed once the LSFWG has recruited sufficient number of members.
Your application will be considered by the LSFWG Chair, who may consult the CRANE team and other members of the LSFWG for advice. The WG aims to have a more diverse membership, considering disciplines, institutions, career stages and other demographic factors. Each institution is expected to have up to two members, but institutions with a large number of cyber security researchers may be allowed to have three members. Exceptional individual cases can be considered independently of the institutional quota. The WG encourages a more coordinated approach so that each institution can be represented by their optimal choices of researchers and requires all applicants to first discuss their application with their institutional (co-)lead(s) in Cyber Security research.
If you are interested in being a member, please send your application by filling the following online form. Any questions or queries should go to the LSFWG Chair by emailing: S.J.Li@kent.ac.uk.
